The
long and cylindrical stems are simple or branched, and
are succulent, flexuouse and brittle. They are 1 - 2 cm
in diameter and are dark green. The internodes are 5 -
15 cm in length. Leaves are rather flat and freshly succulent
type measuring 8 to 25 cms long and 2 to 8 cms broad. It
takes approximately nine month
for the pendulous bean to become mature pod with about
200mm in length. When plump and immature pod start
turning slightly yellow, they
are
picked for curing.
Cured beans
consist of thousands minuscule aromatic seeds encapsulated
inside the beans.
